Hello,
Well I must say that I did enjoy this exercise this week. I do still feel that I like the Subtle Mind exercise best, but this one was good too. I feel that throughout the time I have spent in this course I have been able to really connect with my inner self and spiritually I am growing more and more. After this course is over, I feel that I will continue to practice these exercises and try to become more psychologically and spiritually sound.
I feel that in order to guide someone down I fulfilling path, you need to have already taken the path and explain the twists and turns that occur along the way. It is difficult to help someone accomplish something that you are not willing to attempt yourself. I feel that if I want to help someone else to find their way, I need to have already taken the path. I do not think it is fair to attempt to steer clients down a path when you have not started first. It is required to be in front of the line in order to guide someone else, therefore you have to be on your way before you can draw someone else in to follow.

Hi Steph,
ReplyDeleteI too enjoyed this exercise this week. I felt like I was really able to connect this week. :)
I think that you are right on in that we should not steer people down an unknown path. I don't that would be fair to them in the case that they were given the wrong information or asked to do something that could harm them. We as health professionals are looked upon as leaders and we can't lead if we do not know the path to go. Great job :)

I fully agree! If you are going to try to help a person and teach them something, then I feel it is only really helpful if you, yourself, have done it as well. It's like trying to teach someone to swim but never getting in the water with them. It might work, but it would be a lot better being in the water, showing them and understanding their concerns and fears. Another risk of helping someone without doing it yourself is the person you are helping having faith in you. At what point will the student turn on the teacher and go, "but what do you know? You haven't done this, therefore you are only talking out of imagination" and thus the student feels cheated and walks away.
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job on this blog and I hope that you continue down this path and achieve everything you set out to do! : )
Hello Stephanie,
ReplyDeleteI’m glad you could enjoy this week’s exercise. I don’t know if it was because the busy week I had, but I couldn’t enjoy this exercise. I will try to do it again to see if this time I can enjoy it. I agree that in order for someone guide another person she/he has to know the path first. It is like the information, if I don’t have the knowledge I will not be able to teach someone else. Thanks for sharing your experience, great post.
